I have heard that these are a haven for bacteria, perhaps because a lot of the water goes round and round the tubes that are used in it without being filtered or cleaned - bacteria builds up. And therefore any people with immune suppression might be vulnerable. If the bath is your own, then I guess you can clean the tubes/mechanism out regularly, I don't know about the public ones.

Actually, some doctors recommend it to relax. Depends how hot and what you have done.
