Because people have this habit of wanting to know everything so that they can control the outcome of things. Some people do not want to accept the fact that they do not know what will happen to morrow and so cannot prepare for it or control it, so they read horoscopes in hope that they will help them gain control of their lives.
Same for astrology and the supernatural.

Because people look for guidance and someone or something to blame their misfortune on besides themselves. In a supposed age on enlightenment and progress, a horoscope ought to be little more than a joke.
