43 and 1/2 weeks. I knew my due date was off when they moved it back but they told me I was probably covering for an affair. When my son was born at 10lbs 4oz, having had a bowel movement, having an infection, and several other problems due to being overdue, the doctor finally admitted that I was right. A little too late. Good news is that I have a very healthy and happy 13 month old son. I'm 3 months pregnant now and I told my doctor that I am scheduling another c-section so that I do not go overdue again.

One can give birth anywhere from 36 weeks to 40 weeks. I gave birth two weeks after my due date for my second child and two weeks before my due date for my first. But if you exceed the 40 weeks, you have an extra 2 weeks which the doctor will give you and then induce you. As you may know, the 40 weeks = 9 months in total, not 10 months, because there are months which have five weeks instead of four and therefore weeks are added. .

I only went 1 week past my due date but I think that that is normal. Your due date is only an estimated date, non-accurate time given. I hope that you are not asking because you a currently pregnant and went past your due date and may be afraid that something is wrong. If this is the case, let me just reassure you that being a week or two late is quite normal. Now if you are 3 to 4 weeks past your due date you might want to question who the biological father of your child may be. Not trying to be funny...........but these things happen. Look into it.

With my first, 36 weeks. It wasn't fun, she had problems and ended up in the NICU for almost a month. My second was 38 weeks. I was induced because at my apt, I was already 5 cm dialated and 80% effaced, babies head was engaged and my water was bulging.

They stopped my labor with my first at 27 weeks and I was put on bed rest and medication to keep me from having contractions, then at 36 weeks, my water broke, at home in bed.. that really wasn't fun.

With my second, they stopped my labor at 36 weeks and I went two extra weeks with contractions that last about 2 hrs at a time and then stop for an hour or so and then start again. When I went to my apt, my blood pressure was a little high, and being that I was so far dialated, my doctor didn't want to send me home, so they did a medical induction. It wasn't so bad. I got my epidural as soon as they started the pitocin (I worked at the hospital, so they knew not to make me wait for mine! I also knew the anesthesiologist, so that was helpful) and the doctor came in and broke my water and I was on my way! My second girl was born less then 5 hrs after they started me.
