I dont think so otherwise people would just take their own pill and not bother spending the 25 quid it costs to buy the morning after pill.

Essentially, the morning after pill is just a megadose of regualr birth control pills and many doctors were instructing their patients how to use regular birth control as emergency contraception long before "Plan B" was FDA approved.

However, it depends on what type of pills you take (monophasic vs triphasic, low dose vs regular, etc...) There is likely a site somewhere that would tell you how to use the particular one you're contemplating as EC (and, indeed, if the particular brand you have is appropriate for use that way.) Otherwise, call you doctor and ask for a prescription for Plan B and just do it that way.

Hi I think that the conversion of so many pills = a morning after pill is a dangerous and very unreliable game to play. If you need the morning after pill either buy it or go to the doctor, do not attempt to do it yourself! It sounds like you might need a different contraceptive; I would highly recommend either injections or the implant, in the UK both are free and easy to get. Ask your GP.

I see what you are gettting at but the pill and the morning after pill are two separate drugs. They work in a different way.

You cant just OD on your normal pill if there is a chance you could get pregnant. It wont do anything.

The morining after pill is harsher and works effectively to flush everything out incase you have produced an egg.

there is a combination of certain BC pills that have to be taken at 12 hour intervals for 3 cycles that has a 90% effective rate.. I don't remember which ones.. probably a web link or mention of it at the planned parenthood site.. but next time, wear a condom.. common sense is the best method

Actually, depending on what pill you take, yes it is. Well, it's not the same exact thing, but it works. I have seen doctors prescribe a pack of pills when we didn't have Plan B in stock. And I'm not going to say which pills are ok, because I want you to talk to your doctor. Please don't do anything without first talking to an OB/GYN.

Definitely not - see a doc or family planning clinic - they deal with this every day and it will be far less embarrassing than you think.
