I found this job in the newspaper, and i figured out the address of the company through its website. It seems a bit far and i'm not much of a driver so i dn't want to drive to places I don't know. Moreover it's away from the downtown area( about 4 blocks).. and in my city when you get away from the main area, you start finding things like gangs.. and stuff. So should i even bother if i know it's going to be a bad area?

Don't every take a job because you are desparate, but don't judge a job purely on its location. Is the company a good company? Do you like what they do? What you would do? A good job that matches your interests, passion, and values is worth a little inconvenience, but if none of the above exist, take a pass.

Choosing the right job can be difficult but you have to look at each job as contributing to your "career." It sounds like if you took that job you would only be taking until you could find something else AND you are concerned for your personal safety. All in all it doesn't sound like a good career move because as a recruiter "job-hoppers" give employers a general sense of unease and it doesn't sound like a good personal move if you do not feel safe. Desperation as far as funds go should push you to better yourself not grasp at straws. I know you will go far...just keep asking the right questions.

If you know it's in a dangerous area, I'd stay away. If you find a job with a location that's a little out of the way for you, I don't think you should let it stop you, but when it affects your safety and it makes you uncomfortable to be in that area, that should be something that stops you.

Look for another job. Don't subject yourself to harm. You have every right to want to feel safe.
