Okay Im pregnant and Im at 41 weeks and a day... I will be 42 weeks next tuesday. The hospital in my area wont induce until 41 weeks either. I was suppose to go in tomorrow to get induced, but they just called and canceled and said its too busy. They will give me a call on my cell when they can do it for me. No telling when that is! So should I most likely be induced before next tuesday hitting the 42 week mark? Im getting so frustrated!

She put me on the list to get induced and has been stripping my membranes for two weeks to get something started. So she wants this to happen, the hospital is just to busy.

42 weeks is the maximum. DO NOT let them go over the 42 week mark. You may have to be pushy.

I know you are getting frustrated. But your doctor will not do anything to intentionally harm you or the baby.
I would call them and figure out what is going on. If you had a scheduled appointment they need to stick to it or give you a reasonable time frame. Act up cause a scene if you need to.
But also keep in mind that the baby will be ok.
Just to let you know with my first her due date was September 9th. I went in September 23rd to be induced (exactly two weeks after her due date) I did not have her until 9:20 pm on September 24th (13 days after she was due)
There was some confusion about her actual due date because of some things I wont go into. But it was agreed that it would be September 9th after an ultra sound. However after I had her they said based on the length of her nails, the EXTREME dryness of her skin that lasted over a month, her being over alert etc that I was probably more than three weeks over due not two.
She is a perfectly healthy thriving six year old.
Also my mom went 19 days overdue with my younger brother (things were different back then) and he is now a healthy almost 21 year old.
So do not stress yourself out over this!!!
Good luck and before you know it your baby will be here

I don't think they should let you go farther than 42 weeks. You should call your doctor or nurse and tell them what the hospital is doing. It may be that there are no rooms available because alot of mothers may be having their babies as well but they should still find room. I went over one week with my son and the only reason I went in is because one night I went for a walk. Just that little walk, made my son drop and I had him the next day. Maybe you should try doing that and hopefully you'll go into labor and make them find you a room and take you.

O man i feel for you. I would have to just walk into the hospital and demand that they induce you if your over your 42 week.

why are you getting induced? Your doctor knows what's going on with you better than we do. If there were any danger, that baby would be out in a second, what with all of the lawsuits that could happen.

Honey, i am thinking that you need to either call all the time so they get annoyed by you and will squeeze you into the "busy" schedule. I would either try to find the next closest and try getting induced there. Honey, put your foot down and call your dr and say LOOK I AM ALMOST 42WKS!!! INDUCE ME ASAP please!!! I am sorry honey hang in there and just continue taking care of you both, CONGRATS!!! though it's only, hopefullly, a few days left.

Been there done that...my hospital started my induction on a Tuesday...gave me the gel twice....nothing...hospital too busy to start the oxytocin drip. They sent me home wed morning...still too busy. My water broke Wed afternoon...back to the hospital...still no labour...finally Thurs morning, they had to make time for me because me water had broken on the Wed...finally got the drip on Thurs morning, and had my baby thrus afternoon. tehre is no risk to your baby going overdue if your water hasn't broken...you have two weeks wither way at 40 weeks. Hang in there...it will be your turn!!

From what I understand, most doctor's will let a healthy woman go as long as 2 weeks after her due date.

Does your doctor have privileges at any other hospital? If so, I'd talk with her about checking with another hospital to see if you can get in quicker.

I hate when people ask the idiots of the universe for medical advice....doctors go to school for 6 years to be certified, some people here are still in high school or less....LISTEN TO YOUR OB!!!!!
