you could loan her money... a small amount to cook dinner and rent a movie. or while he's at work, help her set up something creative. like a treasure hunt in the house or a romantic setting ;)

Maybe dinner and wine at home. Or what would be really awesome, coming from a guy of course, would be to dress up in lingerie and give him a nice long massage, and then some wild sex. I'm not trying to get violated here, but after 3 years the sex life usually has receeded pretty significantly. Tell her to spark that old flame up by giving him a massage and oral. That woud drive him nuts and I'm sure she'd be recieving too. Besides, it's not about money and presents, it's about recognizing the love and celebrating the time they have been together. She doesnt need money, but she probably feels insecure by not having any. I'm sure he understands her situation, and the truth is, most men would rather have lingerie, massages, oral, and a wild roll in the hay more than anything money can buy.

I have a hard enough time figuring out anniversaries with the one I'm married to. Tell her to spiff up a little extra for dinner, maybe some candles, and just enjoy each other like you normally would or should.

You can go clean his house and get some silk rose petals and write out I LUV U on the bed. Run a bath for him when he gets home. Make him dinner and desert. Make him a little sex coupon booklet.

well, she should cook for him....a really good meal. to make it more romantic, light candles and use a really good scent for the room to be special. maybe write a poem for him and tell him how you feel as to when you first met up with him.
