My sister "discovered" an aquatic creature while snorkeling in St John USVI - it looked exactly like a ribbon. We have never been able to find a picture, but it was about the size of the palm of your hand, and was red, and wavy like a ribbon... any ideas? Thanks!

It really just looked like a ribbon... there was no tail, but yes, it was eel-like... sorry!

You have fish in inverted commas, does that mean you are unsure? Did it have eyes, a mouth, gills? Was it a vertebrate? The first thing I thought of was a sea slug or flatworm. A sea slug seems more likely in a Carribean coral reef.

Well, it could be a small eel, or possibly a sea snake, though unlikely. It may be a baby ribbon fish which is a deep sea fish that grows extremely long and looks and moves like a ribbon. Hope I was help full.

Maybe a pipefish, Corythoichthys species. Like a seahorse in the head but a body like an eel. Some are red, red-banded, or red-striped.
Did it have fins? Gills? If not, it may be an aquatic snake or worm.

i dont think it was a fish, my guess would be a worm of some kind, but it could be a small elver(young eel) or even a young amphibian. you'd need more detail in your question like did it have gills?a prominent tail? did it look like a ribbon or was it just wavy? id suggest finding a dichotomous key with a search engine

i'm having problems with YA's new rules, too. in many techniques they are so loosely and "in my view" defined that folk would be reporting others left and suited on the littlest "offense." which includes: ===belligerence, insults, slurs and many times objectionable speech ===do no longer threaten, harass, impersonate, or harm others ===provide recommendation in a manner that could desire to reason somebody harm by whose definition do we pass by with "objectionable speech" or a slur? One person's slur is yet somebody else's unfastened speech. Threaten? Harass? harm others? How do we harm others while all we are coping with are words? provide recommendation that could reason harm? Is that like, "pass leap off the Brooklyn Bridge"? C'mon! Gimmie a harm! i think of YA is going to have a lot of subject with those new rules... even greater beneficial than they had earlier. i'm hoping they have sufficient team to deal with all the abuse comments and appeals!
