I believe what someone had done previously in their life is their business. Sometimes a person may want to leave things in their past when they start a new relationship and build a new life with trust and loyalty in the new relationship. Some times its better to let sleeping dogs lies because what you learn may not make you happy and this causes stress and I am talking from experience.
Its better to build on faith than learn to trust half heartedly.

Maybe he has had a lot of partners. If this is something your boyfriend will not discuss with you, maybe you should re-evaluate your relationship. If you can't talk about that, how can you grow to trust eachother and be able to talk about everything? That doesn't sound like a healthy relationship to me.

Embarrassment either the number is too high, or too low. If you have already openly told your number he may be intimidated or scared that you will want to know names, address, positions, dates and then "use" it against him. Just pretend 10 and get on with your life, as long as he is not currently adding to those numbers then it really doesn't matter.

Because he thinks that it is probably too many. You probably do not want to know. Urge your boyfriend to get tested, and you do the same. Then, if everything comes out okay, and you two are faithful to each other, then you should be okay. But......trust means everything in this situation.

It is probably best to let his past stay in the past. As long as he is disease free I wouldn't worry too much about it. If you are happy together why bring up something that could make both of you uncomfortable?

It could be that he has alot, or not many...or none. Since he knows you want to know, he'll tell you when hes ready. There are way more reasons than this that he might not want to answer you tho, so just let him tell you.

maybe he has had none.. but he told everyone that he's done some.
maybe they were bad & he doesn't want to remember them

He's your boyfriend so why are you trying to remind him of other people that he has "partnered" do you want him to think of sleeping with other people?

not the best idea

focas on your realationship so he is not reminded of sleeping with anyone else but you.

hope this helps,

He does not like being in such an uncomfortable situation because he is afraid he will hurt your feelings. Dont ask him.

Maybe he has had many and is ashamed of what you might think of him, or more likely, hasn't had many or any, but is afraid to acknowledge it because of bragging rights.

Because if you knew, he probably wouldn't have you as a girlfriend anymore. You'd probably kick him to the curb.
