Only once you hit a certain level of dumbness.
You have to be really dumb to be so clueless that you are happy all the time. I'm thinking mainly along the lines of mental redardation of about the mental age of three.
If your just medium dumb (average), like most people, then you certainly are not happier. You're probably miserable.
If your really bright, you will either be really happy because you're smart enough to create your own reality or you will be really miserable because you will truly understand some the awful truths of life and you can't live in a delusion.

there's this pessimistic american philosopher who once said that the more you know the more you become vulnerable to pain. i would like to counter though by quoting john stuart mill he says it's better to be socrates dissatisfied than a fool satisfied. there are degrees of happiness and some happiness cannot be gained just by remaining dumb. what if my happiness is to become a lawyer? how can i be happy if i cant even pass the bar?

Yes, because you don't have to hurt your brain thinking. You can just turn off your brain!
That was from Malcom In The Middle.
Reese was teaching Malcom to be stupid. It was funny.

Oddly enough, I think you are right..The "smart" people are always examining and re-examining life - makes for sadness....
Whereas the "less intelligent" among us are concentrated on hedonism and the simple pleasures in life .... good observation

The old ingnorance is bliss theory---for myself ??---No---but I know it works for alot of people---but it always seemed to me that if that were really true--there'd be one hell of alot more people walking around with unbelievable huge grins on their faces

I would say it depends..
Sure, you may not realize what you are doing wrong - but when you are making dump statements to friends, or talk to them without thinking it may hurt them - it may come right back at you.
