Also, if the govenment is tracking people's e-mails, why they can't they track his account and find WHO is providing this to him?

Bin Laden's web access is some 12 yr old kid running notes to him and then coming back down and giving some notes wrote on a Big Chief notebook.

Living in a cave for 4 years with other smelly men, now its like Brokeback Cavern up there. Why do you think he never comes down? You don't really want to know how he is connected, do you?

Ok, seriously. Bin Laden I'm sure does not have an internet connection. He may have satellite CNN but no internet.

He is a leader of a huge movement. In order to be able to do this, he needs to communicate with his people. I really doubt he's in a cave somewhere. And even if he is, he has messengers going in and out all day carrying his orders to his people. They might even have a web site that has his orders on it, I don't know.
In short - he is not isolated from the world. He is very active and communication with many people. This would include the internet, phone, messengers and any other means of communication,

That's a good question. Whatever hole the rat is living in must be really high tech. I can't wait until we find him and blow is as* away. I can't believe that we still can't find Bin Laden. We are the United States of America. We only have the greatest military in the world. Not to mention all the technology we have.

He has a big following. I read that there are 5000 al queda followers in the US now. He has a lot of support unfortunately.

I think they film him saying different things and just release them on the web at different times.

I watched a documentary one time and they were showing how bad the insurgency is in Iraq. It is so wide spread that the insurgents held a public meeting on camera broadcasted on tv and hundreds of people showed up at the meeting to discuss what to do about the US being there. When they can have a news broadcast and lots of people show up, that is a lot of followers. We have a really tough job over there.

1. Who ever said he gets great internet connection? His videos are old school VHS tape and 8 pound camera.

2. The government is not tracking our emails.

3. The government doesn't have super high-tech satelites that can find anyone they want. It takes good old fasioned elbow-grease.

I hear you girl! If they can track down the people who post kiddy porn, then they certainly can trace where these terrorists are posting things on websites. They can track IP addresses and find who providing a connection. They could find these people if they really wanted to!

No; I saw MacGuyver access the internet with only a rubberband, a transistor radio, and a paperclip.
But seriously he is probably not accessing the net from his cave. He sends videos to news agencys and friendly groups and they post it.

I imagine the tapes we see of bin laden aren't being posted on the net from a cave, more likely they are using net cafe's in order to avoid being tracked.

Not really, if you want a mind blowing explanation, read The World Is Flat, by Friedman. It answers this question and more. He would also have access to more advanced equipment, but he is believed to be dead, so you can apply my comment to whoever his successor is.

You have to believe there is a reason why they choose not to get him. In fact the facts behind the Caspian oil investments are very very interesting.
