If you think the crowds will be too much and the trip to costly, try checking out the foliage in northcentral Pennsylvania. We have wonderful fall foliage and we also have a beautiful scenic drive that includes the opportunity to see Pa's elk herd. It is called the Pennsylvania Wilds scenic drive. Search it on the net. Also, try visitpa.com, I think. Hope this helps.

things start up in mid Sept. I am sure there must be a web site for this years foliage. it changes a week here and there with the different weather. I remember there would be maps they would show on the tv news for the regions of new england and where what colors were coming in and fading out. maybe down in Ma the peak is later into october.

here are some sites that might help.

the peak is often in october but it varies from year to year and from state to state. new hampshire and vermont are my favorite states to visit at that time.

be prepared for crowds and book your travel early.
