Yes if you have blonde hair watch our for green tints. To avoid it drying out, take a shower after you get out of the pool.

For darker color hair you do not have anything to worry about. The chlorine can on lighter hair give a green tint to the hair. Wash your hair when you are done swimming, you do not want to leave that chlorine in your hair, it is not good for anyone, colored hair or not. A good shampoo to use after swimming is a clarifying shampoo, that will take the chlorine out of your hair, but it does not leave your hair soft, so you want to condition your hair well after using this type of shampoo. You can also try a swim cap if you go swimming a lot.

I was a competed in swimming in high school- and practiced 6 days a week for at least two hours per day. I didn't wear a swim cap and by the end of the season, my brown hair had turned a shade of blonde and had broken ends and looked horrible.

So the answer is "yes" if you plan on being in the water for a length of time. If it is just recreational, I wouldn't worry. Chlorine in the water acts as a bleach.

Yes, it is damaging. Not sure how, but I heard somewhere the other day that you can wet your hair before getting in the pool to protect it from the chlorine.

Yeah, it can can damage it. Like it can make it frail, or brittle, or green (yeah it can happen) If you spend a lot of time in the pool with chlorine and the sun. If you gt your hair wet with non-chlorine water, your hair abosorbs it, and doesnt let as much chlorine in.

if you have the normal amount of chlorine in it then it wont, but if you are in like a public or school pool then it will a little bit because there is a lot more chlorine in them then you would put in your own pool

Yes. There was even a shampoo comercial about a swimmer with a hot body that said swimming was great for her body but terrible for her hair. Use a deep conditioner and even a leave in one. It should reverse the damage.
