Nerves man, it's nerves.
Do some relaxation exercises:
Tense all your muscles, scrunch your eyes, tighten everything, take a deep breath, and then let it out as you relax all your muscles and think RELAX. Do this for a minute or two before you go to bed. Over a short amount of time you will be able to do this just once and be relaxed. Over a little more time you can just say or think "relax" and you will.
Melatonin over the counter also works well - make sure you take at least a month off from it after you stop or if you finish the bottle.

Stress and excitement!!! You are stressed for obvious reasons and excited that you are almost done...plus you go to bed knowing you NEED the sleep so you lie there awake thinking about anything and everything that comes to mind. I am sure you have even found yourself thinking about things you haven't thought about for years!!! Also working late it takes awhile to wind down....get a good book or magazine and read....watching TV stimulates your eyes too much and actually makes it harder to fall asleep. So curl up with a book and study or read, whatever. And try to clear your mind BEFORE lying down. Good luck.
