David Bowie pronounces it as in bending at the waist, as he named his son Zowie not pronounced like Zoe, but then it wasn't his real name so presumably he didn't know how to pronounce it. However most people with this name pronounce it Bowie like in bow and arrow. I call him Bowie as in bending at the waist , but would otherwise pronounce the name Bowie as in the bow and arrow sense.

To confuse matters in a Funkadelic song I heard George Clinton pronounced it Boo-ie.

English-As in bend at the waist.
American-As in Bow. I think you'll find.
(Or is it the other way around?)

Trivia:- David Jones, supposedly, chose the name Bowie after the Jim Bowie knife. Jones had heard that 'Jagger' as in the name Mick Jagger, was the name of a knife.
Now you know.

Well, I heard an interview with DB once, and the announcer (being clever he thought) commented that Bowie had a new daughter Zoey, which he pronounce "zoo-ee".
"So, you've named your child Zoo-ee Boo-ee?," the announcer asked.
And in a voice as cold as Major Tom's icepacks, Bowie answered, "That's 'Zoe-ee Boe-ee'."
I believe that was the end of the interview.
Short answer, then, "Bow" and in Bow and Arrow.
