That's an interesting question. I see what you're saying when you say he had no genitalia at all. He was the first and only...so who would he mate with? It's hard to know if God made him with the intention of creating a partner eventually, or just made him a partner because it was "not good for man to be alone". He probably had just male because God wouldn't have made Adam to mate with himself.

Quoting directly from the Bible, no. Eve was made when God took a rib from Adam's torso. In laymans terms, God cloned Adam.

However, there are many other theories on how 'man' and 'woman' came about. Evolution, aliens.... take your pick.

God created Adam. after seeing that Adam was lonely (and noting that animals had male and female pairs), God took a rib from Adam's chest while he was sleeping and created Eve. So to answer your question, no! He had male genitalia. Eve had female genitalia.

My answer is from my understanding- it is NOT meant to be a statement of doctrine of any sort.

Adam was a man (male genitalia). He was alone, so God made Eve (female genitalia).

I think that the statement that God made Eve from Adam's rib (no genitalia there) was figurative. It was meant to describe the proper relationship between our First Parents.

She was not "made" from a bone in his head, to dominate him. She was not "made" from a bone in his foot, to walked on. She was "made" from a rib. She was to be near his heart, with his arm around her, protecting her.

If you believe that God created Adam as the first human being, which was a supernatural creation, then it's not necessary to think that Adam would have to have both parts... Eve was created supernaturally by God also.

Don't take the bible so literally.

Adam was formed as a man, and god took a piece from him, a rib, and created Eve in his likeness, but as a female.
