Every time I fight with my husband and he is drunk his anger has been escalating. He used to just yell, then throw stuff, then tear up stuff and then this weekend he got a gun out and shot the BBQ grill. I told him its over and as usual he is sorry and wants to work on it. I told him I was done trying until he gets counseling. Do I let him stay in the house? I don't want to be shot next.

You've passed the enough stage. Don't fight with a drunk...it's usless. You need to pack your bags and leave. It's the only way. Most Alcoholics don't stop drinking until they reach rock bottom...l'd get him there quick if you want to save his life.

He is verbally and emmotionally abusing you. Violence and drinking don't mix and if he has a gun and is willing to use it you are in danger. Try to tal to him about when he is not drunk and tell him that for the sake of both of you he needs to go to therapy for anger management.
Don;t wanna see you in the news next...ACT NOW! Are there any children in the house??? If so, they are in danger too, move out or/and have a restraining order angainst him. I nkow that you love the man but you have to think about your life and well being too.
Good luck

oh my god! Get out! That's crazy! I was in the same sort of situation, everytime he got drunk and angry he'd punch holes in the walls, doors, my car! etc. It's just a matter of time before he unleashes anger on you. Not many sound minded people would even think about pulling out a gun, not to mention shooting something.

First I would get the guns out of the house and then leave him and try to work things out being apart.

You've answered your own question. A violent drunk is just that, it only ever gets worse as you are finding out. He is already abusing you with his behaviour, I'm sorry for you but you have to get away from this man or get him away from you.

No, his behavior is totally unacceptable and he needs help. don't let yourself be convinced it's anything else. You need to stand your ground and either leave or tell him to. Until he goes through counseling then you can work on the relationship

I was in the same situation, and it came to him attacking me, I now have 2 plates in me 1 in my neck 1 in my lower back. It's enough, I wished I never went back to him and then I wouldn't have the plates, stop it before it's too late!!

sadly, drunks are very selfish. They only see where the next beer is coming from and that is all they care about.

If you stay, you may be next. You need to leave now!

GOOD LUCK!!!!
