Kabuki theater, ancient traditions, honor, strict rules of ettiquette, strong economy, ethnic body and facial characteristics that are too often stereotyped, Buddhism, Taoism, dynasties, architecture, fashion, art, origami, poetry, technology.... I think as Americans, we are blinded by too many Pan-Asian stereotypes. That makes this question a hard one. I have a hard time identifying the stereotypes and distinguishing them from the truth. I would like to know more about Japan.

I actually think of their flag before anything else. Maybe it is because their flag symbolizes who they are.
