I got into a car accident yesterday, my neck hurts bad today, didn't claim it though the insurance company. But I'm wondering if I have whiplash could it go away on it's own, or do I need to go see a doctor. I just didn't think whiplast was to serious? Thanks!

GO TO THE DR! I had the same thing happened the day after my car was rearended....was fine until the next morning and BAM! Just do what your Dr says you should do but don't wear the neck cushion brace thing-y 24/7, it weakens the muscles and makes it worse over time. Also you gotta move your head around when possible so your muscles don't atrophy. Sorry, this can take a long time to heal and the pain changes around alot as the damage works it's way down the muiscle 'path'. Hang in there!

You should go see a doctor hun. Take care of it as soon as possible, your neck is nothing to mess with. I was in a car accident 10yrs ago and my neck is still jacked up to this day. I live with the pain of it and migraines every day of my life. I was 18 when it happened and now I'm 28 and have a neck like a friggen old lady. It sucks. Take care of yourself. Hope you feel better.

Whiplash can last up to 2 years. First report it to your insurance so that the medical bills will be paid and make an appointment with an orthopaedic.

The most important first step if you believe you have a whiplash injury is to get immediate medical attention. Medical professions, such as physicians, osteopaths and chiropractors, are trained to diagnose, evaluate and treat whiplash and other skeletal injuries.

GET TO A CHIROPRACTOR. From first hand experiance this will help, and by letting it go un treated your asking for future pain.
