I'm a 21 full-time college student that is recently engaged. I use to know my major, but due to certain circumstances I decided it'd be hard to cut. Well now I'm left starting my 3yr of college, and NO idea what I want to do for the rest of my life. Any suggestions? a little background on me, I like helping others, I'm a realitively created person, I like to cook, i'm a hard worker and good cleaner. I'm fairly intelligent, and tend to stress too much, so it'd be nice to do something where I won't be stressing forever. I'm also trying to finish school within 2 years (by/close to the wedding). I use to be into weather, but it was a comptetitive field.

PLEASE HELP ME! ANy and all unique or different jobs one can get w/ a college degree is welcomed!

Okay, this is the rest of your life we're discussing here. Of course you can change careers later on, but right now you have the opportunity to make a correct choice. You need to spend about $30.00 and buy the book NOW, DISCOVER YOUR STRENGTHS by Buckingham and Clifton. The book is written on about the same level as a newspaper. You have to buy the book new, because inside the book cover there will be a code which allows you online access. Read the first few chapters of the book and then you will be given instructions on how to access the online test, but make sure you understand the instructions. The test is not actually timed, so be as honest as you can be. If you stress and make an error while taking the test, you can call the phone number provided online and your test will be reset, so just chill and enjoy. There are no wrong answers, only answers that will determine what field you are suited for. After completing the test you will immediately be sent the results. They will be profoundly accurate. You will be able to go back to the book and read more about your personal results. Many major corporations use this test when hiring. Life is way too short to be miserable in your work environment, especially if you have the opportunity to choose well in the beginning. Good luck to you !

I think you first need to meet with your academic advisor to discuss your individual circumstance. Choosing a career from yahoo is probably not a good idea.

First off, college is a training ground. You by all means aren't locked into any particular area of life's work. Certainly if you were shooting for a MD or JD than not finishing is somewhat of a waste but than again. You might want to read Po Bronson's book "what do I want to do with my life" or something to that effect. I think it will lead you in the direction you seek.

Are you studying meteorology to become an anchor person? I am not sure what you consider as being competative. I would imagine that there maybe limited entry level positions so that it becomes real important to seek out and qualify for the best internships out there since internships go a long way to getting that first job. But that is true for most majors.

I also don't know what kind of job you expect to get with 0% stress. Your future marriage I am sure will be a source of a great deal as well.

After reading Po Bronson's book, try visiting monster.com and just browse through the listings for jobs that might appeal to you.

Having a college degree opens up a lot of doors for you. If you can't decide based on what your likes are, try taking an aptitude test and see what areas you are good at. Your counselor at the college should be able to guide you as to where you can take such a thing. If not, sit down and think of all the things you like to do, like you listed above. Then research those fields and see if you have the classes you need so far to do it or can alter your program accordingly. Any job you take is going to be competitive so that should not be a factor. You need to focus on what you LIKE simply because if you like it, you will exceed in it and always be happy to go, and be at, the job you chose. Makes your love life better too!! Hope this helps!! Good luck!!

It sounds to me that you are a kind of person that like being rushed into something, without a firm plan, then mess up what you have been doing. This is why you are left with NO idea what you want to do.

So, sit down and take deep breath. Then review what you have done, analyze why failures happen, and finally make a clear plan for the future. Once you establish a firm plan, you got to be highly discipline in following the plan, make periodically evaluation on what you have achieved, correct if there are any mistakes and improve if you make the goal.

Discuss and plan them with your girlfriend will be good too.

I won't tell you what to do with your life. Heck, I'm in mid 30's and I'm still not entirely sure what to do with my life. I know a guy in his mid 40's, and he's not sure either. Are you starting to get the pattern? Things change, people change. You get bored, and learn a new job.

If you are creative, why not veer off into marketing or communications? I've heard those are both easy, and marketing is fairly viable in job hunts.

BTW, the 3rd year is the best year to change. Your generals are mostly done, and you can focus on the meat and potatoes.

Best of luck. But don't stress. You are very young still!!

I always tell people that don't know what to study to get a Business major and a minor in a subject that interests you.. It offers the most opportunity no matter what your interests are. Sounds to me that this gives you the most flexibility to move into a variety of carreers..

Another word of advice: Wait another 10 years before you get married. Try and enjoy life before you get married and have kids. Work hard and spend money on doing fun stuff, see the world, experience life.

How about being a social worker or counselor? Some stress there but everything is today. Go through all the occupations you can find on google and check out. Hopefully you will find your vocation which would be a great job.

You need to find yourself first. it is only by taking a holiday and knowing exactly what you want to do, then you can proceed. You are heading for trouble if you don't know your whereabout and added to that you are getting married. put everything on hold until you find yourself. You will be putting more stress onyourself and on the marriage if you don't sort out your life before you take the plunge. Getting married is not good if you are not ready for that step. You have to be physically and mentally strong because marriage is forever!

Sounds like you should try a career counselor. I was skeptical at first too but it REALLY helped me. They help you figure out more about you and then to find a job that fits your core competencies.

After going through the analysis with her, she recommended this site: http://www.jobpodge.com

It's a site that provides people's first hand view of their job experiences. It totally helped me because I didn't want to go through informational interviews or know where to find them sometimes. Good luck!

Become a teacher. They have great schedules and since your getting married, you'll have your summers off unless you choose to work part time as a tutor or something. Plus having a great schedule as a teacher is also rewarding you'll be helping kids and teaching them great things for ever while still having loads of time off!!
