Drives Compatible !
i understand, u mean if hard-drive compatible 2 new pc / platform
--- absolutely
no problem at all in installing hard drive into other pc
Problem 1 you will face is during bootup, cause info in BIOS is of earlier hard-drive. Just save changes and exit bios
Problem 2 you will face is when windows is loading ... environment is totally different, so u allways get a message "new hardware found" , be prepared with Windows / OS install disk & you may need to install drivers
May take awhile, but once done , u r through ...
- best of luck !

As long as it is an IDE drive either ATA100/133 (and chances are it is) then it will be compatible. However, as others have said, if it has an existing installation of Windows on it, you will not be able to use it. You will have to get a new license key from Microsoft. Microsoft determined that changing the motherboard (which in effect you are doing) is using a new (different) computer and therefore requires a new license.

If the computer before had the OS (such as Windows) already installed, that is an OEM version and there is a high chance you will not be able to use that hard drive in your new computer as drive C.
If the computer had Windows installed from a Windows installation disc, then you can.
As for drivers, as long as the settings on the hard drive are set to Master or Cable Select, you should be good to go without any special drivers...

it might be cheaper to get a different computer unless its to alte. you would have to buy windows or whatever operating system you are going to use. The only varince in drives will depend on how old the computer is and who made it. Like is it an apple or a dell. I would take the whole computer in to Best Buy or another electronics store and get their opinoin. Some stores allow you to return their product if they give you the wrong thing. That is how i would approach the problom.

Take the old hard drive and connect to new MotherBoard and then start the system. If the new MotherBoard detects the Hard drive, then it show's drive's configuration on the boot up screen.
If it does'not show up then i think there is a serious problem with your Old Hard drive!!!
