This is of course a hypothetical question since the Internet isn't a single machine or company so it's highly unlikely. Just curious as to what the impact would be if such a thing were to come to pass.

Not as much as you think. Information is sent via the internet but it is stored somewhere and can be printed in soe form. Planes do not need internet to fly since radar has been around since before the information super highway.

Simply put quick information would come to a halt. People will watch the news and listen to radios and newspapers. Snail mail will piss everyone off because stamp prices would increase to benifit them.

Angry people everywhere yes, world ending no. Fortunatly phones will still wrok.

Many e businesses would fail. If internet access failed, along with email, many businesses would grind to a halt that are based online. College courses taught online would be done. People who keep in touch by email would have to remember how to dial a phone (if they had each other's numbers) or pick up a pen and write (heaven forbid!) There would be a lot of inconveniences, but eventually we would adapt. I grew up in a world without cell phones, DVD's, or the Internet. It is interesting how quickly technology becomes a part of our lives.

Yes if it was destroyed just about every major company would be inactive because they wont know what to do. The economy would fall because there is so much trade on the internet. the internet is a major part of the world

Why chaos? For me it would most certainly be inconvenient no doubt, but I honestly think since the Internet came along it has crippled places like the library. Remember back in the day when you actually had to go to the library to research something.

Yep, I think there would be total chaos! Everything seems to be centered around the web. Everybody's would freak out about their finances, since most of us do our banking and bills online. Companies would probably not be able to communicate with their clients... it's be crazy. Plus, we'd all be bored to tears at work ;o)

Was there world wide chaos in the 50,s 60's and 70's ? when it didn't exist? Life would just return to a simpler more relaxing time.

I dont think it would be that big of a deal. The people who would be most hit would be teens, but they can't do much about it. People who work with it would just need to find other ways, I dont think there would be chaos.

If your world comes crashing down around you because the internet ceases to be, then all I could say to that would be that you were seriously in need of a life.

Whoa there horsey. The Republicans did no longer ruin the worldwide financial equipment. the techniques that the different international locations made have been their very own duty. the folk who destroyed our financial equipment are those that we bailed out with our tax money. They gave us an *** raping and then we mentioned "please sir could I even have yet another".

It would certainly reduce the amount of junk mail I get.

I suppose, like nature, we would just invent our way around the problem :-)
