I have been Braves fan ever since they were in Boston, then to Milwaukee, and on to Atlanta. This year they are having a horrible year, especially since they have a very weak bullpen who has let many games get away from them. There is hope, however. They have a strong, young lineup full of potential all stars. Add them to Chipper Jones and Andrew Jones, and you have a powerful lineup. Trust me. They will improve the pitching situation and bullpen soon. Meanwhile, even though they are having a bad year, I still love them and will continue to root for them.

I hope you agree.

They are not a good team this year.

I'm not taking away anything from them for what they did from 1991-2002, maybe 2003. It's just that over the past two years, they really were not a great team, and certainly not one very much worthy of having made the playoffs. The NL East was so bad, however, -- and Atlanta caught many opportune, lucky breaks, -- that they were able to maintain first place in 2004 and 2005.

They've lost many all-stars to free agency; couldn't afford, and underestimated the importance of, their ace pitching coach; currently sport the worst bullpen in the NL; have been hit hard by injuries; are facing an ownership crisis; etc. For the past few years, they've gotten way too much from overachieving players such as Nick Green, Charles Thomas, Jorge Sosa...the list goes on -- players who just shouldn't have contributed so much to what otherwise would have been a rather mediocre club. Not that the current crop of Baby Braves and other unknowns aren't good and don't have potential, but they're playing more to their ability, which is at best at par with other NL teams; no longer are they trumping other teams' players. And with the Mets simply having gotten it right for a change -- integrating a New York Yankees circa 1996 style of youth with all-star veteran talent (which, btw, the 2006 Yankees could use) -- the Braves just aren't in the same position as before. They might be able to go on a winning streak, but it's not going to be as easy for them to gain ground as they have done in the past -- look at the Marlins, winners of 9 straight. How many games have they gained on the Mets in that span? And now the Braves have to leapfrog 4 other teams who all have the ability to go on winning streaks themselves?

14 straight division titles is, of course, unprecedented, but any manager will tell you that the past is meaningless, and that come the start of a next season you have to prove yourself all over again. Yes, what they've done has seemed magical, but really it wasn't; they were just a great team with a hell of a lot of confidence and terrific management. The streak could have ended at any point during the past 14 years, but it just didn't. This year it will.

I am very surprised that the Atlanta Braves are not performing too well this season because usually they are in first place in the National League East Divison at this time of the year.

They just don't have the skills that they have had in the past seasons.I'm like you asking myself whats there problem.I think that their pitching coach should be fired.Because their pitching is not as good as it once was when he wasn't the pitching coach.
I hope they get there problems worked out!

Hang tight...I think they will start to win (hopefully) in July & August. I also think the Mets will start losing.
