I never travel without my laptop, it is like a lifesaver for me. I bring some CDs, DVDs, etc. on the plane with me. Also, some games and things to play. I leave the cases at home and just put them all in one large holder, which is probably bigger than my laptop.

I also bring a video game, or some sort of a game a long. If you bring a laptop, you really don't need to bring the PSP. But really, if you have games on your latop, you really don't need it. But I still bring something, DS or just one of the regular games you can buy in the store.

I sometimes bring a book, or some magazines, depending on my flight. And also some game books, crosswords, wordsearch, sudoku, etc.

I like to travel light on a plane, especially with all of the security these days. So I take a book and my MP3 player. I can read and/or listen to my music all I want and not have to be worried about other personal stuff like a PC or DVD movie player being lost or damaged, or stolen. When I get out of my seat during the trip, I put the book in the seat or seat pocket and my MP3 player in my pocket.

Then I bring some snacks since most flights do not searve meals any more. Usually nuts and fruit will be enough for a 4 or 5 hr flight.

- An extra sweater and socks in case I'm cold

- Some water and some snacks in case I get hungry before they bring the food

- My laptop

- Something to read (not a huge book though, don't want to have to carry that around)

- Cards or some other small game that I can either play alone (like solitaire) or play with someone next to me

- A calm attitude:)

- Gum! That's important for the end so my ears don't pop

A music player is not absolutely necessary since long-distance flights almost always - in all classes - give you a headset and provide music.

Do some exercise at some point, something simple in your seat.

I bring my Ipod, a novel, a sweater (because I'm always cold on planes), a bottle of water/soda, and either a laptop or nintendo DS or something like that to entertain myself. I like to bring several different things to do so that I don't get too bored.
