given that everything is exactly the same except there isn't a trace of another human anywhere on the planet (no bodies, rotting human carcasses etc) how would you cope?

I would start experimenting to see which animal could keep me company at night...

I'd be very upset that I'd never see my loved ones again. That's a depressing thought. Are you planning something and wondering what to do if you succeed. Do you have the ATOM bomb or something?

If it did happen, I'd probably go get myself a really nice car and drive around the country seeing if there really weren't any other human beings. If I were the only one then the petrol in the gas stations would never run out and the food in the shops would never run out, although there would be no fresh fruit and veg, I'd have to go and pick that for myself. And if there is only me using all the energy then that too wouldn't run out before I died. The evenings would get very lonely.

I would run around naked. Travel, get a car, eat tons of cool food, and basically do everything I never got to do before. It would be rough becuase there would be no one to keep up and maintain things. I'd have to go from city to city. Maybe crash into someone's old apt. It would be heaven on earth. If I bumped into another human, now THAT might be scary! lol

It would be very weird, and I'm sure lonely, but at the same time, kinda cool.

I always liked the book "The Stand" from Stephen King, about something similar.

I think it could be how a whole new species could be created. I mean, if you got sooo lonely and started looking to the wildlife (assuming there is any) ......
"Come here little froggie"......LOL yeah, yeah, strange sense of humor.

i would get lonely after a bit but it would be kool at first! How would i cope? in the same way i currently cope with not having a social life. large amounts of reading Internet and t.v although, would their be electricity? hmm probably not. i think i do everything i wanted to (like own everything i ever wanted and reading loads of books and stuff like that) and the get so lonely I'd kill myself.

u know i asked my friend a question like this the other day, it was do you think u'd get on with yourself if you met you. and he said its never gonna happen so why does it matter.

that, i imagine, is what HE would say in response to your question.

With a LOT of dvds! Plus if there were still animals etc you could make friends with them n train them n stuff. Also would travel around a lot, trying out different clothes n food. Just thought if there are no people does that mean no electricity? If so it would get v scary at night!

1. Make sure they'd switched the lights off before they went
2. Check my e-mail to see if they left a note to say where they've gone
3. Pop to the pub, serve myself, and not leave any money
4. Look in the loft to see if they're hiding there
5. Not go to work
6. Assume there's a big surprise party coming soon and change into my party gear

i would take the opportunity to do all the things that i wanted to do that were previously hindered by the watchful eye of society. like go shopping for free, drive really fast on the motorway, eat the best food, then ill travel the world searching for another person till i perish
of course this will last about 3days

Ooo I had a funny/similar dream like this once.

In the dream I got inside the drivers cab of a GNER train at Kings Cross station and set the train in motion then jumped off before it got any further >:-) *evil*.

If this happened, first thing I'd do is have some FREE breakfast :-) from somewhere then I'd go to a games shop and get myself a PSP, an XBox 360, a Nintendo DS, a PS2 and plenty of games.

Next I would go to some shop (Sony, Argos, John Lewis, etc, etc.) and pick out the biggest and bestest TV I could find.

After this I would go and steal a lorry from somewhere to actually carry all this stuff around.

I would go and play on all these games and write up reviews for them -- to keep my sane.

The next thing I'd do is get on The Tube ("London Underground") and drive the train myself into London. Would be easy and no red lights to stop me!

On the way in I would stop at a station and go to a shop and 'steal' a drink.

My destination would be MI5 HQ where I would go inside and explore it to see what it actually looks like. I would also go and visit MI6 HQ, again to explore inside and see what it looks like.

Next stop would be Tower Bridge and I would make the bridge raise up and down to see what that's like (never seen it in real life -- only on TV or in pictures).

For my next bit of 'fun' I would go and find some really cool boat on the River Thames and 'steal' it for a joyride up and down the River Thames :-) :-) :-) (of course I'd wear a life jacket.)

I would find a ramp thingy along the river to power the boat up and grind it to a halt then I would look around for a BMW X5 to 'steal' it and joyride around London playing some f***ing awesome songs on the CD player!

Just out of interest I'd drive up to where I live and go to my local 'sex shop', go inside just to see what it actually looks like inside. THIS IS PURELY OUT OF INTEREST!

By now I'd be hungry so I'd go and get some food to eat somewhere. I fancy grabbing a pot/box/thing of pasta stuff from Marks & Spencers so off I go down to their Moorgate branch.

I'd take my thing of pasta to some cocktail bar and leave it there on the bar whilst I went to a local bookshop to get a book on Cocktails and go back to the bar to make myself a Mojito -- which I've never had but want to try it.

I'd also try various other cocktails from the book.

After this ... and maybe getting a bit drunk .. I would go to various banks and take all their notes (£5, £10, £20 and £50), get to the top of Canary Wharf, smash a hole in a window and throw all the £5 notes out for the fun of it!!

Who knows what else I would do but it'd be great fun.

Just a pity I didn't have anyone to share the fun with :-(

Great question :-)

Not sure how to cope with that. I mean I would go about my business in terms of survival and I guess I would read a lot.

But it would be a very hollow existence, life is about relationships.

I'd sleep in, go shopping and spend the night watching all the films in the local cinema, then wake up the next afternoon and make my way to the next town to do it all over again.
