Funny...I was just thinking about this the other day!
Great bass riffs:
Sweet Emotion - Aerosmith
Peace Sells... - Megadeth (Dawn Patrol is Awesome too!)
Airplane (and just about anything else) - RHCP
Tax Man - The Beatles (Paul is a great bass player)
...and right...any older Police stuff...Sting rocks on the bass...
Also, anything Les Claypool does!

There are two oldies that really got me into playing bass guitar.
The first was "Jump Into the Fire", a Harry Nilsson song from his 1971 album, "Nilsson Schmilsson".
The second was "Shu Ba Da Du Ma Ma Ma Ma", from Steve Millers' 1973 album "The Joker"
Other hot bass licks that I still groove on is:
Chicago - "South California Purples"
Police - "Walking On The Moon"
Cream - "Badge"
Red Hot Chili Peppers - "Give It Away"

Seven Nation Army - The White Stripes
(but I think it was actually played on a guitar with an effect to make it sound like a bass...)
Close second: Under Pressure - Queen & David Bowie

Manowar's version of 'Flight of the bumblebee' plated entirely on bass guitar - insane stuff! (Their version is cunningly titled 'Sting of the Bubblebee' on the Kings of Metal album)
Killing in the name of.... By Rage against the machine?
Transylvnia by Iron Maiden?
