It's actually a trilogy: "Three Colors"
Foreign title:
"Trois couleurs: Bleu" (shot mainly in France) "Trzy kolory: Bialy" (shot mainly in Poland), "Trois couleurs: Rouge" (shot mainly in Switzerland ).
My favorite of the three is "Red".
Director Krzysztof KieÅlowski, along with co-writer Krzysztof Piesiewicz and musical scores by Zbigniew Preisner created three incredibly beautiful movies.
The trilogy was released between 1993 and 1994.
Each movie connected one to the other in a wonderful, cinematic style of story-telling.
And the tri-colors are jointly based on the French flag, and used that symbolism to tell a story for each of the movies.
For example:
Blue: liberty - when the main character loses her husband, she discovers her own personal liberty.
White: equality - the two characters have a topsy-turvey relationship, but it all levels out in the end.
Red: fraternity - two totally different people connect in a very unique way.
Five stars!!!!!
