Yes. Just a guess, but I believe most people who live in the country of Japan speak Japanese. And I believe there are individuals - both from Japan and not - in other parts of the world who also speak that language.

I can speak conversational Japanese.

I am an English teacher in Koriyama, Japan. I've been in Japan for over 2 years. It is a hard language to learn but I am trying.

I am conversational but far from being fluent.

Nope. I travel all over the world and it's just like TV...everyone speaks English. Even when they pretend to speak another language, they are just playing a game with you; they really speak English.

If you are in Japan, just walk around chanting "etchy". (sounds like ichy with a soft "e" sound at the beginning instead) Say it loud and proud. One sylable with each step as you walk down the street...
