Yes, but John Davidson doesn't work well with him. They need to take Bill Clement out of the studio and put him with Emrick and that team would be the best in hockey by far.

No Way! Doc Emrick is horrible. He tries to sound intelligent and just ends up saying something stupid. I hate his analogies and his voice drives me nuts. Gary Thorn from ESPN was by far the best play by play man in hockey. It stinks that OLN carries the games now. Emrick just seems to be doing his job, where Thorn really got into the game and had an authentic excitement about a great play. I think the only person who would be a worse play by play man than Doc Emrick is Ben Stein.

I agree Doc Emrick and JD are the best on TV. But on radio it's hands down Mike Lange of the Pittsburgh Penguins. He is in the Brodcasting and Hockey Hall of Fames. I've been watching hockey for over thirty years and he's the best.

I have NHL Center Ice, so I have a chance to listen to play-by-play and color commentary across the whole league. Doc is defniitely in my top three, but my favorite play-by-play man is the guy who does it for the Phoenix Coyotes. I can never remember his last name, but his first name is George.
The best TEAM is Joe Beninotti and Craig Laughlin for the Washington Capitals. Laughlin is a riot. He really adds to the telecasts.
I love Doc Emrick, but I hate that he's the play-by-play guy for the New Jersey Devils. Watching Devils hockey is like staring at a clock.

No, Doc Emrick is one of the worst announcers ever. His voice is so annoying and he is such a moron. During the Finals, he said potheads can't play hockey, although he meant hotheads. Also, when a goalie makes a save it gets stuck in his parafanelia, what does the goalie have drugs or something. Completely disagree. I think we need Bill Clement, Ray Ferraro, Barry Melrose.

I do like Doc Emrick, his love for the game is evident.
I also like Mike Haynes from the Avs, but can't stand Peter McNab. He goes on and on about nothing.

I agree with Tom H. Gary Thorn(e) was the best hockey play by play on TV until ESPN dumped the NHL. As for radio, I'm a Wings fan and therefore I think Ken Kal is the best play by play on radio.
Congrats to the 'Canes on their Cup win.

Never heard him so can't put him down but I like Mike Lang. Hey I'm a Penguins fan what do you expect. Used to enjoy listening to Mike and Stag. They basically both were there with play by play although Lang is really more known for his phrases after the goal.

It took me awhile to get used to his voice, but his analysis is outstanding, IMHO.
He's a really nice guy in person, too. He saw me taking his photo at a game earlier this season, and he volunteered to come around and do a posed shot with me.

Yes. Now they need to ditch John Davidson and a few others and the calls will be much better.
