Not just the young either. Some elderly people think its their god given right to talk to people like dirt. Age does not qualify people to forget manners, either way. Soon our language will be in the form of grunts, tuts and dirty looks.

I'll back that up
The other day, i was queueing for the bus and this old lady, shoved her way past and then have the audacity to say thank you! - and i was like, well there is a queue here, and then she said, well you young un need some manners - that was it, i went mad, i mean i wouldn't have minded as much if it wasn't obvious that i was next, i had a baby in a pram and my 2 year old screaming (going through the terrible 2's!) and she actually moved my pram to push infront, at least the younger one waiting for the same bus showed me a bit of courtesy and said you go first
the elderly blame society's problems on us the teens and early twenty's, well I'm sorry but they are worse, they think coz they have reached past 50 they get priority of everything and its just not so - anyone interested in a "normal people against elderly rudeness" club?

You are soo right ! I can't help but think that with all of the worlds super technology and speed.... we have added more stress into our lives causing most people to become overloaded with their "day to day" tasks . Overloaded minds become "short fuses" and the shortness is manifested in the rudeness we face now. Perhaps when we faced the uncertainty of the Y2K meltdown ...things would have been better had it really happened !

I definitely think people are losing their manners
Just the other day my daughter went on a trip with her rainbows group and whilst we were all waiting for the coach to arrive I gave my daughter a little sweet and one of her little friends asked if she could have one,
But the little girl did not say please I looked to her mother for approval and mostly waiting for her to tell her child to say please. but she only nodded to give approval of the sweet so I ask the little girl if she new the magic word she immediately said please (proving it was that she didn't know to say it, just that she was not used to saying it) then her mother gave me a look of "how dare you say that to my child" for reminding her daughter! I come across this so many times when my daughters friends visit for a play date or tea and I don't know why it has come to this I was raised to always say please and thank-you and generally be polite and respectful to others and try to install this into my own daughter in fact "Ta" was one of the first words my daughter learnt!
Can we call ourselves civilised if our actions are anything but!

Manners maketh the man and cost nothing!

Yup. Sadly, a lot of people today consider being polite a weakness. Showing common courtesy and manners, to them, is like showing you are inferior.

You're right and there is no excuse to be impolite. I usually find that by being polite to people I have a much better time. For instance by being polite to a shop worker you will get better service.

Its true. As we get more people on the planet living in dense areas the more we decide not to be pleasent. Thats why country folk are more polite than city folk.
