No, don't dumb yourself down the extent that you yourself begin actually being dumb. However, if the people around you, to you, seem "dumb," then you might want to dumb down your own vocabulary a little when you are around those particular people. Just keep in mind that no one should change who they are just for others. Merely adapt for the time being, but don't make any permanent changes.

Absolutely not! If everyone would reach for his or her own potential, then no one would have to be "dumb." In a way, it is up to the intelligent people of the world to raise the bar a little and try to bring the idiocy of the world to a screeching halt.

yes dumb it down a bit please, your big words hurt my head. my suggestion is that you should learn that you dont have to be intelligent or wise all the time and its alright to be dumb and have fun, but know when its not acceptable and also surround yourself with people like yourself, unless you dont do that becasue you are afraid of not being the smartest one around becasue that is all you have in the end.

But for future reference, -it's called speaking down to their own level. This is considerate whether that person is child, a co-worker, or an elderly person.
