my b/f is in school to become a counsler and said there are studies that show that most men who cheat actually like their original partner better then the affair person and when women cheat they like the affair person better then thier original partner. remember i am not saying that is the way it is for all people; there are always exceptions

Women may cheat for different reasons than men but the violation to the one who is betrayed is exactly the same. There are "dogs" among both sexes. If there happen to be more men who are dogs, I'd say it's simply because they've had more power than women and more opportunity.

I do think it's possible for a man or woman to cheat once, regret it and never do it again. If it happens more than once, you have to assume that that person cares more about their own gratification than the feelings of their partner and will keep cheating. If this is the case, move on to someone who shares your values.

Cheating is cheating reguardless if it is a man or a woman, it breaks the bond of being able to trust that person again. Being sorry won't make the doubt in the other persons mind go away.
If you truly love someone you won't want to cheat on them because you know it will hurt them.
You will always wonder what else the person is doing that is cheating on you, especially if you catch them lying about it.
If people want a good relationship they shouldn't cheat on each other. Why would you want to sleep with someone that you know has been sleeping with someone else while sleeping with you?

Cheating is cheating. Yeah, men are dogs. I am as well. I know my avatar looks like a cat, but that's to amuse a woman---I'm a dog. However....

I have learned to control myself. I'll admit, I have cheated in one (and I mean ONE) signifigant relationship, and that was my first marriage, and that was WELL after that marriage was over in both of our minds. Regardless of that fact, it was still cheating because we were still going through the motions of being married. Regardless of the fact I ended up marrying the person I fooled around with and we have been together a total of thirteen years, it was still cheating. Regardless of the fact she had more sexual partners than I had in my whole life (up until that date, LOL) it was still cheating.

So I had one time in my life where I wasn't able to reign in my dog-ness. It had nothing to do with me being a man, it had to do with a loss of self-control. Men are perfectly capable of exercising this ability just as much as women. Men love to SAY they cheat because of something biological, but it all boils down to psychology, not physiology. Just like the man who sleeps with tons of women and won't commit is trying to cover up some emotional need, the man who cheats is filling something in their heart or brain, not their penis.

The woman who cheats is doing the same---It's just that the voids are different, and it's probably more likely their current partner COULD fill the need but doesn't.

So, no, it's not different. In a serious committed relationship, the effects are just as devestating no matter who does it. And a compulsive cheater is just as likely to be a man as a woman, and there is no difference in who can be believed when the cheater says they'll never do it again.

Don't know for sure...But here is my guess. Men cheat b/c they most of the time just need sex. Women, I think cheat b/c they get some emotional attention. A friend of mine who cheated on her husband told me that it happened b/c the other guy was telling her that she was pretty all the time, and he listened to her etc.

Ask a guy why he cheated and most of the time you get "b/c it was something to do"

Either way cheating is not going to fix the relationship,,only going to make it worse

women are more trusted than men, i think. their mostly sencere when they apologize. some men like to trick women into getting her back but next thing you know he's with someone else. i'm not sure. but if you cheat, you cheat. man or a woman it's the same it's just the apology that's different.

There is a big difference. a woman can cheat and still love her man but once a man cheats,he would be so out of love with his woman

Well i think any one who does it is a dog, regardless of sex. What is the power gain or more to the point what is it that makes a person cheet in the first place?once a cheet always a cheet!! any body can do it but to go through with it rather than keeping it as a fantacy is wrong. We all want that ideal healthy relationship, but one has to be both emotionaly and spiritualy healthy for that in the first place,if you are i doubt you will cheet,i think its an esteem thing when a person has unresolved issues they may find it as a quick fix to a damaged ego

Well, I believe if you are truly in~love with your partner there wouldn't be any reason to cheat at all anyway. Cheating is very hurtful and wrong. If you feel like you need to cheat then break~up with the partner so,it won't be so painful...

There is no difference whether it's the man or the woman who cheats because either way it is still infidelity.
