Stretch marks are a form of scarring generally associated with pregnancy, obesity, bodybuilding and puberty. They result from overstretching of the skin, which disrupts the normal production of collagen, causing a scar.
They first appear as reddish or purple lines, but tend to gradually fade to a lighter color. The affected areas appear empty and soft to the touch.
Human skin has three layers of skin: the epidermis (outer layer), the dermis (middle layer), and the subcutaneous stratum (innermost layer). Stretch marks occur in the dermis, the resilient middle layer that helps the skin retain its shape. Once the dermis has been stretched continously over time, certain parts of it overstretch losing all elasticity making the connective fibres within break. The result is what we know as stretch marks.
Once the body returns to the original unstretched size (after childbirth or weight loss, for example) stretch marks often become much less noticeable.
There are various methods that claim to remove them, including laser treatments, dermabrasion, and topical applications (e.g. cocoa butter), but none guarantees it.
There is a cream in the market claims to do miracle,, called Strivectin SD

There is no "cure" for strech marks if you elect to have them lasered it will only lighten the marks NOT Remove them, you should try some of the OTC Brands like derma Blead, Palmers coco Butter Etc. Laser Reduction is pretty costly.

the skin has been damaged and the only answer is to laser it down and make new skin form...most of the time, it doesn't...so ask for a second opinion when you start looking for doctors, they will sometimes tell you anything and ask for pictures of people before and after...lasers are usually safe if you go to a reputable doctor...stretched out skin is permanently stretched and damaged, so be cautious who you choose to work on it...and don't fall for the cremes, they do not work.
