The USA tied Italy 1-1, so what do they need to do now to be sure they move past this group of play? What are all of the different ways they can move on? Do they HAVE to beat Ghana?

US has to beat Ghana. If US loses or ties this match, it would be the end for US in this World Cup. US has to get at least 5 goals (the more the merrier).
Assuming that US wins, here are the different outcome,
1) If Italy beats Czech, US will go to the next round facing Brazil.
2) If Italy ties Czech, we will need to see how many goals Czech has. US has to have more goals than Czech has in order to go to the next round.
3) If Czech beats Italy, we will need to see how many goals Italy has. US has to have more goals than Italy has in order to go to the next round.
Right now, US has two goals less than what Czech has and what Italty has. Assuming that there will be goals made by both Czech and Italy, US has to get least 5 goals in the game against Ghana in order to be safe. If US makes only 2 goals or fewer, even if US wins, they cannot advance to the next round.

Yes. USA has to beat Ghana however.....
1.USA has to beat Ghana and hope Italy beat the Czech
Republic.
2. USA has to beat Ghana by a 4 goal margin if Italy and Czech
Republic draw (1:1) in order to have a better goal count and
balance. For every other goal the Czechs score USA has to
add one eg, Italy 2:Czech 2 means USA 5:Ghana 0 to qualify
(or USA 6 Ghana 1) to maintain the 4 goal margin. (Italy does
not come into play here as they have a better goal difference
than the Czechs).
3. USA beats Ghana and hope that for some reason, Italy or the
Czechs get disqualified but that is quite unprecedented!

Well, there are 2 ways. 1 way is for the US to beat Ghana and Italy beat Czech. The other way is for the US to win and Czech to win. That will put Italy and the US in a tie. The tie breaker is who has scored the most goals. So, the US will have to outscore Italy in order to win the tie breaker (which as of right now, they have 1 goal and Italy has 4 goals..). This is highly improbable as the US will have to outscore Italy 3 goals to send it to the 2nd tie breaker. So we have 2 ways to make the next round, but both involve the US winning.

The U.S must win against Ghana, and the Italians must beat the Czech Republic. That's the only way, but it is certainly possible.
