Follow-up Question:
Wouldn't it be hypocritical for a pacifist to expect other people to take up arms and endanger themselves for the pacifist's sake?

Yes. Since from the pacifist point of view, the person attacking them is somehow the victim, it would be wrong to fight back.

NO! Just because you strive for a peaceful existence does not mean others do. You have every right to defend your own life- and the life of your children, should they exist. There are people who love you, who would be devastated if you were gone. As the mother of a child who was murdered, I know what I'm taking about. Please, never think you just have to play to the mercy of some criminal. Defend yourself and live to be happy!

... now really... must we insult the pacifists?
While there are differing views on the subject, the vast majority believe action is ok when one's life is directly threatened...

Leave it to a conservative to insult the likes of Gandhi and Jesus... you probably don't understand why he just let them nail him to a cross, do you? why didn't he fight back?

NO IT WOULD NOT
Noone , in their right mind wants to fight, kill, die !!
unfortunately there are those who are not in their right mind, who have twisted views of the world and these people must be confronted and stopped.
ASK OUR GUYS IN UNIFORM,none of them joined hoping to go to war, but they accept the risks willingly.
GOD BLESS THEM
