we've lost owen, but rooney seems to be back (and could well be fully match fit after an outing against ecuador).

i doubt if any world-cup squad can lose one of its best players and still be a favourite for the tournament - but teams have been lucky in the past (uruguay in particular).

if england can get through to the semis anything might happen.

I only thought England stood a chance when seeing the poor performances by the other teams - a bit like when we (Wales) won the Grand Slam in the proper sport of Rugby 2 years ago - we won by default - we were the best out of a particularly bad 6 Nations - everyone played poorly. However, seeing Argentina's performance last week, I don't think England stand an ice-cubes chance in hell. They would need to up their game to an exceptional level and by they're mediocre performances so far, they haven't got it in them.

England has got a lot wealth when it comes to players. They have the best league in Europe, and most of their players play in it. There's a whole bunch to choose from.

Yes, England does stand a chance to progress even further. Their chances were enhanced sinced they have avoided playing against Germany int the next round, which would have given them a hard time.

I feel very sorry for Michael to miss out on the rest of the World Cup - it's a blow to him and a big loss for the team. I'm looking forward to see him scoring for Newcastle in the coming EPL season.

England's chances are as good as ever. Sometimes unforeseen circumstances can be overturned into winning situations - Gerrard as 2nd striker may work out to be just that.

DONT WORRY ABOUT OWEN HE`LL BE FIT AND READY FOR THE NEW DOMESTIC SEASON.

ANYWAY ENGLAND LIKE MOST OTHER TEAMS ARE RELYING ON TOO MANY OLD PLAYERS, WHO HAVE HAD A VERY LONG CAREER BOTH DOMESTICALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY.

THER BONES AND JOINTS HAVE TAKEN A LOT OF PUNISHMENT OVER THE YEARS. ITS LIKE EXPECTING AN OLD HORSE TO RUN AND WIN THE GRAND NATIONAL.
