We may ask but that doesn't mean that Turkey will just go along with an attack on Iran.
After all, as a democracy, the Turkish Parliment voted against allowing U.S. forces to use their bases for invading Iraq.

US won't attack Iran militarily...that's exactly what Iran wants...

We're already rebuilding two countries.

US will attack religiously by having the Grand Ayatolla to proclaim the current administration as heretical and reigning in the fanatic dictator that currently leads them.

the US does NOT need Turkey to be sure.
And, if it wasn't for the economic benefits Turkey receives by having an air base there...the US would certainly move out to a neighboring country that has offered land for free..

Well--one nitpick--the psycho Iran has for a presiden t has threatened to attack Israel in the past. But "Iran" as such, no. Otherwise, no , the American public isn't buying Bush's propaganda one bit. And if you think the media is helping Bush, you are very much mistaken. By coverig this the way they are, they are keeping people aware of wht's happening without provoking any more of the hysterical yapping from the right wing than we already have. America is watching. And I can sum up what they are thinking very briefly: George, you do not want to pisss us off by attacking Iran. You really don't want to do that.

I doubt it. The US does not have very strong ties with Turkey because of the Second World War. Anyway, the US will demand help from the UK, Australia and other allies. I think Turkey and surrounding countries may join in voluntarily.

If the responsible nations of the world have to deal with Iran by use of military force. Turkey, as a responsible nation, will be expected to participate.

I doubt it. I think the goal is to surround them with governments friendly to the civilized world (Iraq and Afghanistan), then trying to isolate them further. Hopefully, economic and international pressure (if the rest of the world will wake up and get their heads out of their collectve a**) will inspire the disillusioned moderates in Iran to bring about change and have Iran join the rest of the civilized world in the 21st century.

If US did attack Iran, I mean IF (I don't think it's possible in the near future, maybe after Bush step down, he has too much political baggage, too little political capital now), given the debacle before the Iraq campaign, I don't think US would bother to ask.

Pretty sure with the state of things in Iraq at the moment the US has neither the will nor the means for a serious engagement with Iran.

When you're up to your eyeballs in alligators...

It's not strategically smart to attack Iran when US forces are already so far spread apart as it is, and attacking so quickly sure as hell won't win any muslim support.

The US is just hoping the Iranians don't call their bluff.
