Actually I believe what you meant was a cholecystectomy, meaning the incision for removal of the gallbladder. Do you have kidney stones?

The doctor will make an incision in your abdomen and then insert a laparoscope (think of it as a little camera of sorts) into said incision to get a better view of your insides. He will clip your cystic duct and then remove the gallbladder from the incision.

You'll probably have to stay in the hospital overnight to be monitored, but other than that you should be fine. These used to be a big deal but now with modern technological advances it should be a piece of cake for you.
