standoffish = a person is said to be standoffish when he/she does not appear to be eager to make friends.

chip on the shoulder = a person is said to have a chip on his shoulder when he/she is always angry or bitter. This is not a happy person.

Standoffish - describes someone aloof and reserved.
Chip on the shoulder - describes someone with a big insecurity eg: He's got a big chip on his shoulder about measuring up to his dad.
