Hi Everyone. My father is originally from Tajikistan settled in Pakistan and went to United Arab Emirates when he was 17 years old. My mother is from Oman. I am born and brought up in United Arab Emirates.Even at home we speak farsi (broken, mixing it with other languages) but even my father has no links to Tajikistan at all. I am still holding a pakistani passport and working in Malaysia. Have been in Malaysia for almost 5 years. Sometimes i get confused when thinking about where am i from? I have visited my relatives in Oman and Pakistan several times but didnt stayed there for a long time and i still need a visa to enter United Arab Emirates.

let me add another place to where u r from.
hey boy, that's so easy, why r u that much confused. U r from Iran ... :D
let's find a country for you, u can choose a country urself, or I would like to chose Iran as ur country, coz it's a big and great country, u speak farsi which is spoken in Iran. and Omen, UAE, Tajikistan, pakistan, and some other countries in middle east were parts of Iran many many years ago.
Also you can tell people that u r from Persia, which is the name of all these countries in past time.
don't u think I'm right?

Your home is where your heart is, if you feel like a guest in Malaysia; then it is not your home. Ask yourself where you would live if you had a choice, and maybe whose political ideals you believe in. From my point of view I would say your from United Arab Emirates, The place you were born and grew up.

Please do not bother with our race or ethnic. We are all the same as brothers and sisters whereever you are and you live. All countries in this world are possesed by Allah Almighty. We can live in any country you like but you must obey its formal laws and regulations. We must do all right doings and do not act which will be harmful for other people. You must polite and appreciate other people.'s opinion and custom. In front of God'eyes all people are same. The difference lies only to their good deed and their worship. We all are descendent of Adam and Eve..If you work in Malaysia you can convert your passport or take an UAE passport whichever you want to be.You come from your mother's womb. and born in UAE.No problem at all.

I've lived in many states. I always ask "This time?" when asked where am I from. The answer would be my last home state of Texas. Where was I BORN? New York or more specifically Long Island which is more of an identifier then just New York. Currently? I live in pennsylvania. Ask what the person means by their question!

You have an interesting background! What complicates your situation is that you are not allowed to hold UAE citizenship. Otherwise it would be easy to respond. You can respond in several ways:

1. "I am an ethnic Tajik but have never lived there", which seems the most accurate.
2. "I was born and raised in UAE", which is second-best.
3. "I hold a Pakistani passport", which seems like the least likely one.

I myself have to explain to people that I am an ethnic _____ but was born and raised in _______. And I live in ________. It's a little complex but definitely a good conversation starter.

BTW, your written English is outstanding. I know Americans who do not write as well as you do.

You should consider yourself to be from the love of your mother and father.

Other than that, all this nationality bs isn't necessary.
