Because it causes the moisture on your hand to flash freeze and stick to it. Just don't do it with your tongue!

Metal is a good conducter of heat. The metal container carries away the heat from your hand very quickly and the natural moisture on your hand freezes.

Silly it's probably because you used your hand to grab it. If you would have used your foot it probably would have stuck to your foot.
