My computer is a Dell that I bought it summer '00. I use Windows ME. My computer is extremely slow! The computers at my job are Dell also, but run Windows XP and the computers itself are of course newer. Working on them is a dream. A friend of mine said I'd be better off buying a new computer rather than ugrading software. Are computers sold nowadays THAT much different from computers from '00?

yes, esentially everything on the computers have improved.
The computer field usually doubles in processor speed, and computer performance every 6 months. So if you factor that in, over 6 years is a huge difference. The best thing you could do to your existing computer is add more RAM and a new processor.

Hmm the difference would be probably at least 2Ghz in CPU speed, 40 - 80Gb of disk space and 4000 + Rpm in disk rev. speed. the list goes on and on.
