I have always used dish soap whenever i've washed cars in my own driveway...but then recently I read that its not good for the paint to use dish soap (which are gentle on the hands...) so how come I cant wash my car with it?
thanks for any help!

Dish soap isn't good for cars. Think of grease and wax (which protects car paint) in the same category. Use car soap, which is pretty inexpensive.

No Buddy! Not at all. Never use dish-washing detergent to wash your car. It contains highly alkaline chemicals which leave your paint dull overtime, in say abouyt 6-7months of regular washes. If you want a substitute for Car-Wash, Try using 50-70ml Diesel( yeah! that's right, Diesel) in a bucket of water, and make a solution. This gices your paint maximum protection against dirt and grime and leaves a sparkling shine which can last till the next generation, Trust me! I do it almost every alternate day. It's my very own formula! And please tell me how you liked it...

no! it will dull your paint . try buying turtle wax or amoral its cheep and it leaves a nice shine , oh and laundry detergent has less acids in it and it is safer for your car than dish liquid , but it will also dull your paint after time
