Back up the files that you want to keep. Obtain a Windows XP disk, boot it up in your CD drive and reinstall. The problem with this is you have to redownload all the updates and all the drivers, which is a major pain.

A better way to get rid of the junk is to uninstall everything you don't use. Also get a copy of CCleaner, which will get rid of some junk as well.

Hope you're able to get it to work.

You need the program CD's to do it. Disconnect the internet line from your computer first. Then, restart and hit F12. Insert the Windows service pack 1 disk and select IDE driver partition 2 and let run. Insert Dell Dem Resource CD and install drivers. the first driver is system driver, check intel chipset, click extract files. Take out disk, restart computer, put disk back in and do video driver and follow directions for system. Take disk out put back in, Do the same thing for audio driver and ethernet or NIC driver. folders then pop up, click win XP, click set up, click my computer, manage, computer management opens, click device manager. Then you should install the rest of your hardware. If you do not get any icons, right click and select icons.

Ask the company if they can get you a disk.

If not, you don't need Dell's disk. Just borrow a Microsoft's disk of the same version that is listed on the license on the side of your CPU box, and use that pass code to reformat/reload windows. Keep in mind all the Dell SW u got free won't be reloaded.
