I would like you to read my blog (below) about "free software" and give your comments about it.

I aslo would like to know if the idea of "free software" can be suitably used in businesses like banks. Because I feel banks need to rely on security systems, right? No one should hack bank databases? Ultimately I do want to know the connection between security and the idea of "free software" (as Richard Stallman defines it). Can we build security systems given that the source code is free? Is it a wise decision...?

Or am I completely missing something...? I might be confused you know in which case I would want to know if security is really an issue here...

Open source software weather desktop version or web version, are growing rapidly. It is said to be future by many experts. We have already seen democratic mood of major websites like yahoo.com, google.com, etc.

MSN is a good example. Though more professional in services and wider product ranges available at MSN site, yahoo and google rank ahead of MSN. This is the power of free services. We hope we will get benefits of sofwares in future.

There are drawbacks too. Open source systems are hugely error prone and subject to violence if not governed properly. Hackers and crackers community will rule if they will get any system software easily, or think how will they controll Internet if community will be made of totally free version software.

I prefer 50% free, open source software and web edition, while 50% for professional , proprietary softwares. This will be more balanced.

Free does not always mean without cost, it means Freedom as in you are free to do with it as you please.
