communication problem, Malaysian english is poor

I had been to a couple of waterfalls in Bukit Tinggi and Cameron Highlands. Previously, the entry was free. But now, you have to pay to enter the park. There is no improvement to those places, no added facilities. Still dirty as ever. So what used to be a picnic ground becomes a paying ground with no add-ons. So I do not go anymore.

If you want to attract tourist, it has to be a place with easy access, clean environment, place you can relax, enjoy with amenities like toilets, food establishments nearby. If the location can provide these, people will go.

Adding to kzzxguy's valid comments:

Negative Image of Malaysia:
1. Malaysian Immigration & Police racist attitude/treatment of Chinese tourists including those from Singapore
2. Significant portion of taxi-drivers do not go by metered fares and selective with destination
3. Violent crimes: snatch-thieves, rapes, robbery, assaults
4. Sub-standard tourist attractions/destinations
5. Rude people in most service industries
6. Dirty toilets, stinking drains, unreliable public transport system
7. Dirty restaurants and environs
8. Extremely poor quality advertising & promotion
9. Arrogant, ignorant people heading the ministry/depts concerning tourism and hospitality
10. Who cares about multi racial living in harmony? Tourists just want to enjoy themselves.

well, i think the tourism industry is on the rise, currently the minister even considering of building a disneyland in Johor Bahru. however, i think there are still many rooms for improvement. So far, Malaysia has managed to attracts many tourist from middle east countries, and neighbouring countries (oh....esp indonesia....), however, i think Malaysia has to do more promotion to attract tourists from europe, america, etc. (westerner)

I would have to disagree with you in terms of communication. It's nothing to shout about but we're definitely better than most Asian countries like Thailand, Hong Kong & China.
Ways to improve would be to provide better or upgrade our current transportation system and clean up public toilets.
Other than that, our country has reasonably good weather & food at affordable prices.

for me, it's the service...not just people to people but cleanliness and public transports...and the ability to converse well...I think sometimes us Malaysians tend to be too afraid to speak with the foreigners
