I can understand when it was during the Cold War, but why do they continue to do it?

Because the propoganda is ongoing, and once the damage is done it's almost irrivesible..... it's also because Americans are more stupid the average human.

The old stereotypes continue in the film industry. Why do people still tell Pollock jokes? It's the same reason. Hollywood is free to insult Russians because they always have. Picking a new group of idiots would get them in trouble with that group.

I also wonder about that. Maybe some people may feel well only presenting others as not normal individuals? A strategy to play on complexes and low knowledge and to govern people?

Jokes are jokes, but I have experience that this stereotype is somewhere very deeply penetrated into minds of "elite" too. Real disaster when such people start to do projects for Eastern Europe.

Privet,
ya ne bazaria pyruskie, blea!
It might be because of the "Soviet Communist System" that produces robots, opresses people, and does not allow for a creative thought to develop. The LADA / NIVA / VOLGA is a prime example.
Why don't Russians ever develop their own things and just steal other technologies?
I live in Moldova, I see what the Russian system does, and it is backwards.
So, we as Americans see this system, and we then make fun of Russians for it.
Maybe Russia should steal "open-minded thinking"?

Haven't seen what you're talking about.

Have you seen "K-19: The Widowmaker", "Hunt for Red October", "Rocky IV", etc...

The impression that is left after watching any of those kinds of films is that Russians are loyal, calm, collective, fierce, and witty. I have no idea why you would accuse American movies of showing anything else. Got an example?

Oh get over it. I'm American but my family has a Russian heritage. You don't see me whining over it. I'm also Native American and I'm not complaining that the stereotypes are basically saying im a drunk. They're all stereotypes, why do other countries refer to Americans as stupid hipocrits. If you can answer that, there's your answer. We ALL do it.

Most American movies are based on imagination. One should not worry about such things.
