According to the HP Maintenance and Service Manual, there are 2 slots for PC2100 DDR-266 SDRAM modules which support up to 1GB (1024 MB) SDRAM using 512 MB modules

2048 MB of ram is the max,i believe.4 slots in the computer.Max ram chip avlable is 512 MB DDR3.Get it down,homie.

normally it's 2GB, if it's old maybe it's 1GB.
Open it from bottom and check if you have free slot. You can also run 3rd party software to check what's capacity.
