I am sorry I am currently recovering from having both of my knees repaird this sprin only one at a time 6 weeks apart. This could be a few diffrent things it could be a torn meniscus or your ACL you might just have a deep bruise but it really sounds like either one of those two ... ICE ICE AND MORE ICE and ADVIL but if its still hurtning you should have a MRI done go to a skilled orthopedic surgeon.. I was lucky I had the best in the Northwest... compassionate gentle and kind.
check out their web site there is info on knee injuries and the basic structure of the knee... they dont ask for any identifying info... www.ofc-oregon.com then click on knee on the bottom towards the middle of screen ... my sergons name is BRAD BUTLER MD. The clinic name is Orthopedic & Fracture Clinic... there wonderful the facility has the third floor all physicans offices and xray.. then the second floor is surgery and the first floor has the actual MRI and the sports medicine area and Physical therapy.. 800-297-5551 appointments.. just in case your in Oregon I drove from the coast up had bad exprecinces with another orthopedic surgeon on the coast... there are 12 physicans.

1. keep moving
2. if swimming, no breaststroke as it twists the knee
3. wear shoes with some bounce in the sole, eg trainers or put a rubber/plastic insert under your heel to reduce impact.
4. ice pack as suggested above (use bag of frozen peas as it spreads better than ice)
5. see doc
6. be aware that an operation now could contribute to arthritis later.
7. you'll probably be fine, I still play badminton and table-tennis.

I feel your pain but be-careful at the advices you get now...
Go to the doctor... But you have to exercise it... I have had 3 knee reconstruction on my right knee and one on my left... Damn Australia rules football... The worst thing you can do is rest it... I hope you have been icing and heat packing it... You need to be taking anti-inflamed...( i no I didn't spell it right...)...Have a look at the link I left you... But do some work on your knee don't listen to the people saying rest it... You will do more damage by resting it...
Good Luck and Take care...
See a doctor you might have done more damage than you think you have done... I hope not..
But Please don't rest it................. I hope I have helped you...

You've probably damaged tendons/ligaments. You should get it checked. I take it you've already tried NSAID such as Brufen. Go visit your Doctor. He'll be able to direct you either to A and E or a chemist with stronger pain killers

See your doctor. You may need an x-ray or MRI. You could have some torn cartilidge. If you are fortunate, it is only inflammation and there are anti-inflammatory/painkillers that can help in the healing process.
