by convincing yourself that the negatives (cons) outweigh the positives (pros) regarding the act, effects and side effects of sex, and build a fear of the potentially dangerous and/or deadly conditions/diseases that are commonly contracted by engaging in sex (including but not limited to unprotected sexual acts, non-penetration acts and however strict you want your abstinence to be, till such time as you change your mind about what you want, like in marriage, or when it no longer matters whether you do or dont do it, or you contract something that forces you to increase your strictness by law.
The mental tool of distraction from your desire is also effective, but is not a long term solution, and the satisfying of your biological sexual need by masturbation or undergoing 'wet dreams' is a given, since the majority of people on the planet cannot live without such release. Neither of these will stop you wanting sex though, which is where the power of fear and logic are supreme, even if such logic is flawed, and the fear is self inflicted and emotionally painful.
The key is being aware that your actions are chosen by your thoughts which are determined by your beliefs, so when you change your beliefs you change your whole world and everyone in it. In the words of Gandhi, "Be the person you wish to see in the world."

Only way is to get really engrossed in something which u really find interesting. U will automatically stop thinking about sex.
The mind is such that u cannot force it to do something. U have to make it get interested/engrossed in something else and it will automatically forget other things.
